Along with other animals, the Samburu National Reserve is home to lions, elephants, cheetahs, and many others. Over 350 different bird species can be found in the reserve, including the sharp-tailed kingfisher, sunbird, bee-eater, marabou stork, bateleur, and palm-nut vulture.

Ewaso Ng’iro River, with its evergreen vegetation luring various species of animals, will be one of the highlights of your three-day Samburu safari. The reserve’s scenery also provides fantastic photo possibilities.

Detailed Itinerary of 3 Days of Samburu Safari.

Day 1: Arrival at Samburu Game Reserve.

On the first of the 3 days of Samburu. Our safari driver-guide will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi, welcome you and give you a briefing about this Kenya safari. After receiving a briefing, from there, you will travel to Samburu National Reserve, a wildlife haven that is about 350 kilometres from Nairobi and situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River.

Upon your arrival in the reserve in time for lunch, which you will have at your lodge, and after checking in. Later that day, you will go on a game drive across the reserve in hopes of spotting some of the many species of Kenyan wildlife that call it home. You’ll head back to your safari lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay after the game drive.

Day 2: Full day in Samburu Game Reserve.

On the second of 3 days in Samburu. Wake up early in the morning and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. After having an early breakfast, you will head to the reserve for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. During the exploration, you will be able to spot various animals such as the rare gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, oryx, reticulated giraffe, lion, cheetah, African leopard, elephant, Cape buffalo, hippo, warthog, Grant’s gazelle, Kirk’s dik-dik, impala, and waterbuck, among others, and many birds as well. The semi-arid plains of the reserve are traversed by the gently flowing Ewaso Ng’iro River, which you will spend the entire day exploring while taking in the magnificence of the Mathew’s range in the background. Later at the end of the day in Samburu National Reserve, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure for Nairobi.

On the third of 3 days in Samburu. Get up early in the morning and enjoy a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge, leave the reserve, and travel back to Nairobi. Depending on where you will be dropped off, you will arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon and catch your flight home.
