Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to the Masai Mara

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi and begin your journey to the Masai Mara. The drive takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, with a scenic stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for photos and a short break. You will arrive in the Masai Mara around midday, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive.

During the game drive, you may encounter elephants grazing peacefully, herds of buffalo, giraffes moving gracefully across the plains and plains game such as zebras and wildebeest. Predators are often active in the late afternoon, so keep an eye out for lions resting under trees or cheetahs scanning the horizon. As the sun sets, you return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-day game drive in the Masai Mara

After an early breakfast, you depart with a packed lunch for an extended game drive, allowing you to explore deeper parts of the reserve. Beyond the Big Five, the Masai Mara is home to cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, hippos, crocodiles along the Mara River and over 450 bird species.

When you visit the Masai Mara during the great migration season, there are high chances of witnessing the great wildebeest migration, where you see wildebeests moving in herds alongside zebras. You will enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location in the reserve surrounded by nature before continuing with afternoon game viewing. Later in the day, you will return to the lodge to relax, enjoy dinner and retire to bed.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Naivasha for an afternoon boat cruise and depart for Nairobi

After breakfast, you check out and begin your drive to Lake Naivasha, which is situated in the Great Rift Valley. The journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, passing through small towns. Upon arrival at Lake Naivasha, you have lunch before heading out for a boat cruise on the lake. As you enjoy the boat cruise, you will have views of hippos near the shoreline and a wide variety of birds, including fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers and many more.

After the boat ride, you may have an optional walking safari at Crescent Island, where you can walk safely among giraffes, zebras and antelopes with no predators present. In the afternoon, your guide drives you back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening.
